As cliché as it sounds, workplace safety really is everyone’s job, simply because it takes a lot of eyes and ears to spot all the potential hazards in a given space. See something? Say something.
Trip, Slip, and Fall Hazards
Report and move any cords, boxes, equipment, or materials from walkways and work areas where someone could trip over them, and quickly clean and water or ice from floors to prevent slips. Make sure absorbent floor mats are positioned at the entrances to reduce slippery conditions.
Insects & Pests
Watch for nests and hives around your workplace and have them professionally removed when needed. Maintain a regular schedule of pest control and report droppings or other evidence of pests immediately.
Sun & Heat
Consider staff who are more frequently exposed to the sun and harmful UV rays. Encourage them to wear sunscreen or protective clothing. Summertime temperature extremes can be a major risk factor for heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Provide plenty of water and breaks in the shade whenever possible. Consider branded cooling towels and logo coolers for storing cold beverages. Make sure all team members know the signs of heat exhaustion and what to do in an emergency.
Poor Ergonomics
Improperly adjusted workstations and chairs can put strain on the body and cause aches, pains, and long-term problems. Unlabeled Chemicals
Liquids in an unlabeled container are dangerous because there’s no way to know for sure what it is. It could be anything from a harmless cleaning product, to a flammable chemical or something that has harmful fumes. Make sure all chemicals are labeled properly with Avery Chemical Labels.
