6 Fun Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day at the Office

6 Fun Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day at the Office

While it’s typically known for being a romantic holiday, Valentine’s Day is meant to celebrate all forms of love, including friendships and camaraderie! It can be a great time to show appreciation for your employees and coworkers, so we’ve compiled a little list of ways that you can celebrate:

1. Provide Breakfast for the Team

You can keep it cute with bagels & toppings, fruits, and pastries, or make it an event with fresh pancakes, eggs, and meat! Your team will appreciate the little break and be able to spend some time eating with coworkers and catching up on non-work-related matters.

2. Host a Valentines Bake-Off or Potluck

Encourage employees to bring in a sweet treat or tasty dish on Valentine’s Day to share with everyone. Similar to enjoying breakfast together, employees can take their breaks together in the break rooms and enjoy each others delicious food! You can also make it a recipe swap, where employees share one of their favorite recipes so that others can try it out.

3. Pass Out Goodie Bags and Cards

Remember elementary school? Remember making shoe box mailboxes and all your classmates dropping candy and cards into it? That kind of fun doesn’t have to stay in childhood! If you have a small team, let employees set up a “mailbox” of their own for coworkers to drop goodies in throughout the day! If you’ve got a larger team, or it seem like it might get overwhelming for some, then the managers or President can put together a little something for each employee and leave it on their desk the evening before, so that employees enjoy a little surprise in the morning.

4. Create a “Love Board”

Set up a “Love Board” in a common space where employees can go share some of their favorite things – local restaurants, books/movies/TV shows, or their favorite thing about the company! They can write them on sticky notes, or directly onto the board.

5. Spread Love by Volunteering

This could be for Valentine’s Day if you are able to rotate employees volunteering throughout the day, or on the weekend before Valentine’s Day where the whole team gets together to lend a helping hand.

6. Treat Your Employees to Something Not Tangible

Delicious food and beautiful flowers are great, but there are some things you can give without having to “give” anything. 1) Let employees dress down for the day – if your workplace usually requires business clothing, let your team have a “casual Monday” (or whatever day of the week Valentine’s falls on in the year). 2) Give your team an hour off – let them choose to come in an hour late that day, or leave an hour early, or maybe take a two-hour lunch!

However you choose to celebrate, if you choose to celebrate, just remember that the main point of the day is to show appreciation and build relationships among your teams!
