Are Noise Levels Impacting Your Office Productivity?

Study after study has shown that noisy offices lower productivity. Whether through direct or indirect distractions, many office workers find it hard to stay focused in loud workplaces. The most common sounds that hamper work are colleagues talking to each other and taking calls, and the sounds of eating, singing/humming, and other "bodily noises" follow closely behind.

However, it's just not feasible, nor is it desired, to give every worker a private office. Collaboration and open-concept offices have become more and more popular over the last decade, and there's no reason to give up on that. So, what can you do to help your team?

Well, modern problems require modern solutions. That's why the Furniture by Perry team is knowledgeable in sound dampening and sound masking systems to minimize noise in any area of your workplace!

Sound Dampening/Absorption

Our team has access to a huge selection of acoustic panels and tiles. They can be free-standing or attached to the walls, ceilings, and floors, so noise can be reduced anywhere you need it. The best part is, acoustic panels don't have to be an eyesore. They can blend seamlessly into your workplace OR be used to add a pop or color or stand-out element.

Whether you're targeting specific problems or wanting to reduce overall noise pollution, our team can help you find the exact solutions you need!

Sound Masking

In addition to sound dampening, which is achieved through physical panels placed throughout your office, we offer sound masking solutions.

Sound masking is achieved by installing a machine or series of machines out of sight, usually in the ceilings of your workplace. These machines consistently emit a frequency, similar to the sound of the A/C running. You have several options to choose from, including adaptive sound masking, but the general idea is that this natural white noise is tuned out on the individual level, but does wonders for blending in and muffling unwanted noise.

We use a system similar to this (an older model) at our Temple HQ, and we'd be happy to show you how effective it is first hand!

Best Practice

So, what's the best practice between Sound Dampening and Sound Masking? A combination of both!

By weaving together a sound masking system that prevents deafening silences throughout the day with sound dampening panels to keep "distractions" more muffled and at bay, an office can instantly become a more comfortable environment to work in.
