3 Ways Your Organization Can Give Back During the Holidays

3 Ways Your Organization Can Give Back During the Holidays

‘Tis the season for giving. As a local business, it is important for us at Perry to give back to the community each year, and what better time than the holidays? If you want to give back too, here are some ways to do so.

1. Monetary Donations

Giving monetarily allows the charity of your choice to use towards whatever way they need most at the time. For some, monetary donations are the only kind that are accepted. However, it can be difficult for everyone to give $10, $20, or more in addition to all the other costs of the holiday season.

To combat this, our teams at Perry are given the option to participate in “Denim Donations” throughout the year! With this, employees can have $4 donated through payroll deduction in exchange for wearing jeans every Friday. At the end of the year, we vote for the charities who will receive those collective funds. It is not mandatory, and we can opt-in or -out of the program at anytime. Typically, our team donates $3,000 or more each year!

Another easy way for organizations to give monetarily is to donate a portion of sales to the charity of their choice. This can be from a specific product or on all purchases for a specified duration of time. You can also give customers the option to round up to the nearest dollar throughout the year to donate.

In 2020, Perry was able to donate $1,100 each to the Ronald McDonald House, Operation Blue Santa, and Feed My Sheep! See it on our Instagram

2. In-Kind Donations

Towards the end of the year, most charities will share a wish list of items they are looking for, such as canned food, toiletries, clothing, and toys. Your organization can set up donation boxes to collect this supplies for your chosen charities. It can be from just those among your staff, or you can accept donations from the public as well!

In 2019, the Perry team collected more than 300 toiletry items for Helping Hands Belton! See it on our Instagram

3. Volunteering

Last, but certainly not least, rather than giving money or gifts, your organization can give its time during the holidays. See what the local charities around you need help with. You can:

  • Work the line in a soup kitchen
  • Clean up after or spend quality time with adoptable pets
  • Participate in a highway or beach cleanup
  • Help with building renovations
  • Support or tutor children
  • The options are endless!
In 2021, #PerryPeople volunteered to help prepare hot and sack meals at Feed My Sheep Temple! See it on our Instagram

In the end, it’s all about giving back to the community that supports us and keeps us up-and-running. Do you have any other ideas for how to give back during the holidays? Let us know in the comments!
