Perry Office Plus acquired the office supply division of Mackie’s in Waco on June 1, 2020, the companies announced recently. Larry Mackie shared the change in a letter to his customers in May.
“I am excited about this change,” Mackie wrote, “Because it not only provides the customer with enhanced office supply service, but also gives us room to expand our printing services.”
The Waco native started his company from his home as Mackie Business Forms in 1976. The next year, he secured a retail location and expanded into office supplies, and began doing its own printing. In late 2017, Mackie sold the printing and engraving portion of his business to Firmin Business Forms. This latest move ensures the supply portion of his business stays in Central Texas.
One of the key changes customers will see under the Perry umbrella is the option of ordering their office, breakroom, and janitorial products online from their local source at perryop.com. Delivery is typically next-day and free in the local area.
“We are grateful that Mr. Mackie has put his trust in us to take great care of his loyal customers,” said Perry Office Plus CEO, Debbie Macey. “We plan to do just that.”
This acquisition is the second for Perry Office Plus in as many years. In 2018, Perry acquired local furniture dealer Commercial Furniture Solutions and, in turn, became a Knoll furniture dealer.
Perry Office Plus has been owned and operated out of Temple, Texas since 1920, serving the surrounding area under the Perry name since the 1980s.
The company recently celebrated the completion of 100 years in business with an event at the Santa Fe Depot in downtown Temple on January 10, 2020. [See photos here.]
