An exciting development in the furniture industry in recent years is the increasing availability of ink-resistant upholstery. More and more textile companies are offering products like this and it has so many great uses.
Ink resistant upholstery is often also able to withstand tough food stains, coffee, wine, blood, mustard, and a host of other outside influences that could otherwise ruin a nice chair. We can think of dozens of applications for this technology:
- Healthcare environments where cleanliness is priority.
- Waiting rooms, where people fill out paperwork.
- School environments, where students are doing homework, research and art projects.
- Restaurants, where food stains can damage the brand.
- Hotels, who thrive on appearance.
- Outdoor areas, where stains are inevitable.
The list goes on!
We wanted to see for ourselves if the technology works, so we conducted some research of our own.
The Perry Office Furniture Team did a test on a sample of Architex Ryder Faux Leather, treated with their trademark “Write-Off” stain- and ink- resistant finish that’s applied to vinyl textiles. We used a King Size Sharpie marker to draw on the sample, let it sit/dry for over 5 minutes, then wiped it clean with a basic alcohol antiseptic pad. You’ll see the very cool – and very practical — results for yourself!
