Perry Office Plus has acquired the Austin branch of Tejas Office Products, effective October 1, 2020, the companies have announced.
“We are excited about expanding our presence in Austin,” Perry Office Plus President Harry Macey said. “We have been delivering to our Austin customers for a number of years, so this is a great way to solidify our position in the market and create an even better experience for both our current and new customers.”
The branch began as Convenience Office Supply in the 1980s and rebranded in 2013 to Office Edge. In the spring of 2018, the company was acquired by Houston-based Tejas Office Products.
Danny Lowe, manager of the Austin branch, has been with the company for more than 20 years and will remain with Perry in a business development role.
“Perry has a great reputation of customer service, and commitment to the communities they serve,” said Lowe. “Our customers will really benefit from their buying power and stability, as well as the robust services and products they offer beyond office products.”
In a time when many independents are being bought out by big-box corporations, this move ensures the business stays in Central Texas, as Perry Office Plus has been locally owned and operated since 1920.
As an essential business, Perry has remained in operation throughout the pandemic, providing their customers with essential cleaning and safety products, as well as furniture services that support physical distancing. Each Perry delivery team member gets a temperature check every morning, and wears a mask while at a customer’s location.
“With a shelter-in-place still in effect, we know Austin is in a slightly different situation than some of the other areas we serve,” said Perry Office Plus CEO, Debbie Macey. “We are ready to help our new Austin customers continue working until things start to open up again. We’re committed to doing our part to keeping our communities going through all of this.”
Perry Office Plus offers next-day delivery to the Austin area for most in-stock items.
This is notably the third acquisition for Perry Office Plus in the last two years. The dealer acquired Commercial Furniture Solutions, also based in Temple, in 2018, and acquired the office products division of Mackie’s in Waco earlier this year.
“We continue to grow and we have Central Texas to thank for that,” Mr. Macey said. “Our neighbors keep making the decision to buy locally, and today, we’re stronger than ever.”
Perry Office Plus celebrated the completion of 100 years in business in January 2020. As the largest independent office products and furniture supplier in Central Texas, the company has been locally owned and operated since its formation and traces its roots to a small printing company established in Temple in 1920.
Perry has a staff of 40, with physical locations in Waco, Temple, and Belton, and offers thousands of janitorial and office products for fast, free delivery throughout Central Texas and the Brazos Valley. They also have a furniture team that provides complete solutions, from space planning and design, to professional installation.
